The Fire and Nook are eBook readers with tablet and multimedia features, while the Samsung and HTC are tablets first and foremost. All run Android OS. You'll notice that as the price goes up you get more features, particularly in those marketed as tablets first: HDMI via adapter, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G options.
