Reviewing the Acer Swift 3X ultraportable laptop, a 2021 notebook for content creation and video editing thanks to Intel's Iris XE Max graphics. That discrete GPU can handle photo and light video tasks, although gaming is another story. If you want a gamer laptop, you'll want a dedicated GPU to handle the latest titles.
I've been testing the Acer Swift 3X these last few days and it's certainly a good Windows alternative to Apple's Macbook Air. Intel's 11th Generation Tiger Lake CPU copes with multi-tasking no worries, although I did see occasional judders when working in Chrome. Meanwhile the Iris XE Max discrete GPU is impressive for photo and video editing without the need for a GeForce GPU, which would bulk up the laptop's chassis.
Creators will also approve of the Swift 3X's 14-inch IPS screen, which pumps out natural colours. It's just a shame it isn't brighter.
Battery life is respectable, although Apple's Macbook Air and Pro still win on that front. Meanwhile you get a respectable selection of ports, and 1TB SSD, all wrapped in a slimline, lightweight alloy frame.
I definitely enjoyed my time with the Acer Swift 3X despite these little bugs and issues, most of which can hopefully be corrected in an update. Check out my review of rival creator laptops like the Dell XPS 13 and Macbook Pro M1 for other ideas.
