Lisa Gade reviews the affordable, unlocked BLU R1 Plus Android smartphone. The $160 BLU R1 Plus runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a promised upgrade to Android 7 Nougat. It has 4G LTE and is unlocked for use with AT&T, T-Mobile and other GSM carriers (it’s not compatible with Verizon and Sprint). Inside it has a 1.3GHz MediaTek 6737 quad core CPU with 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage plus a microSD card slot. The phone has a 5.5” Gorilla Glass 3 display, a 4,000 mAh battery, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. It’s available from Amazon, Best Buy and other electronics retailers in the US.
