Zombie Escape on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive - Map: ze ENDEMIC
Endemic is a brand new map for CS:GO that was the winner of the 2022 Mapeadores Zombie Apocalypse Mapping Contest. It's based on the 'Necroa Virus' from Plague Inc: Evolved (which I have no idea what it means) but I assume it's about the way the virus turned humans into zombies and about a new mechanic of this map as well. It's one of the first maps that allows zombies to spawn either in front of humans, or even among them with good timing. These zombies usually have low HP, so their chance to turn the human team into one giant horde remain limited.
It introduces fresh new mechanics that shake up the traditional gameplay somewhat, although intially it can be very confusing if you're unaware this is intentional. You can see where zombies spawn beforehand, luckily, by the aid of a red glow.
I also like the overall art-style, although it suffers from the same overly bright lighting that most CS:GO ze-maps have (I mean, have none of these mappers have ever heard of HDR tonemapping?). Other than that, it was really tense and challenging to conquer the entire route without getting zombified, which made for a satisfying result winning the map after so many tries!
Definitly a great addition in the ever-growing mappool. Enjoy!
