Far Cry 2010 is in my first opinion amazing... The mod truly takes out the best of what the CryEngine can do. It even proves that Crysis could have been made somewhat on the CryEngine 1 too :) The Mod is a masterpiece.
HOWEVER! It is harder to run than Crysis on max settings. With everything on Very High, water Ultra High and MSAA x4, it runs at 23fps with much vegetation and a lot of shadows + high view distance... This is rather unacceptable because it graphically is still lower quality than Crysis, and runs a lot worse :S
That proves at the other hand that the CryEngine is plain simply not build and optimized for such technology... Furthermore, there seems at some points just too much vegetation, an overkill which isn't necessary...
I'll explain every option individually now
- Textures: They are perfect, and look like the ones in Crysis. Polygons are very nicely brought into play, and the vegetations and objects are very detailed!
- MSAA: It is as it is, exactly like in the normal Far Cry it smooths out edges and makes everything better. However, it seems to take a huge toll, almost the hardest toll, out of the performance... The problem is that it looks so much nicer between x4 than x2 and of course 0 MSAA. I can run it at x4, but nearly impossible to record. Unacceptable...
Particle Effects: These are always a hard pain for almost all cards, but anyway, if you don't encounter them, there is no problem.

Anyway: Once I found a way to properly record this @ max settings, I will remove this video and upload a full walkthrough of it :) So ratings don't matter on this video. Still, I'd like every1 to comment if you like this video or not ;)
