Junkyard is very reminiscent of the sewers levels from Half-Life 2 and undoubtedly draws a lot of inspiration and materials from it. Overall, the map features a number of defence positions that are decent, although none of them will provide too much cover to make it too easy, and thus you're forced to group together to defend from every angle, especially when fast zombies are unlocked. High ground can prove to be beneficial for humans against all but the fast zombies, as you can easily spot the other zombie types largely in advance. Fast zombies will constantly be jumping on top of the team, however.

A great map that must be a ton of fun with even more players, and well-made visually with care for gameplay balance.

Version: Zombie Survival Classic Edition

Zombie Survival for Garry's Mod originated back in 2007 thanks to its creator Jetboom and the Noxious community. It quickly started a wave of ZS servers that were all building up on his idea, eventually offering more opportunities to play and discover this mod, while Jetboom kept updating the formula by improving its mechanics. Around 2010 the mod evolved so much beyond the original idea that between servers, the mode would be played entirely different. Zombie Survival Classic, by Mr. Green, evolves from the roots of the 2008-2009 era, whilst adding classes like those in Killing floor (medic, berserker, support etc). From 2010 and onwards, they added bosses (special zombies that appear once per game), and an arsenal crate (similar to the shop in Killing floor).

As a result, Mr. Green's Zombie Survival Classic ends up playing phenomenally well with its pletora of fun and balanced maps, its selectively varied Zombie Classes that really spice up the games over time, and its weapon progression and cading system which rewards good teamwork and gives enough opportunities to build strong defensive positions for the never-ending waves of zombies. Specifically the feeling of shooting weapons, walking around as different types of zombies, the human characters and their 'dialogue' (it's limited, but still fun and nice to have), the quickly accessible menu's, the atmosphere and the amazing community are among the best things to have in the Garry's Mod survival world.
