We spoke with author Stephen Petranek about humanity's destiny to colonize other planets--starting with Mars. He believes that private corporations like SpaceX will begin this colonization process in the next decade, will eventually will lead to a terraforming initiative to turn Mars into an Earth-like planet. This is all going to happen a lot sooner than you think.
