The HTC Re's disappointing video quality stops me from recommending it as a primary video recording device. If you find that you often miss memorable moments because reaching for your smartphone and loading its camera is too slow, the HTC Re may seem like a great solution, as it's quick and simple to use. Yet, if you have the Re packed away in a backpack and you see something that requires quick, from-the-hip recording, you'll still need to reach for it, which in itself takes just as long as pulling your smartphone from your pocket and loading up the camera. And when you're expecting to shoot something, you'll usually have your recording device ready, whether you use a smartphone, the Re, or an action camera, at which point the smartphone and action camera come out on top because their video quality is likely to be surpass the Re's.
