Lisa Gade reviews the iPad mini with Retina display. The new smaller iPad boasts the same 2048 x 1536 resolution as the iPad Air, but packed into a 7.9" IPS display with 326 PPI pixel density. It runs on Apple's new A7 CPU with M7 motion co-processor as do the iPhone 5s and iPad Air, so it's significantly faster than the original iPad mini. The Retina mini starts at $399 for the 16 gig WiFi model and it's available in larger storage capacities and with 3G/4G LTE on all major US carriers. The tablet weighs 12 ounces and has an aluminum back in your choice of space gray or white (with silver back). It has a front 720p Facetime camera and a rear 5MP camera with HDR that can shoot 1080p video. Apple's iLife and iWork apps are included and the tablet ships with iOS 7.
