Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo LaVie Z and LaVie Z 360 Ultrabooks. These are supremely light 13.3” laptops that weigh in at 1.87 and 2.04 pounds (non-touch and touch). They’re also very slim at 16.9mm, yet they pack an Intel Core i7-5500U 2.4 GHz CPU, 8 gigs of RAM and a 256 gig SSD. The $1,499 LaVie Z has a matte non-touch display with a 180 degree hinge, while the $1,699 LaVie Z 360 has a gloss touch screen and a 360 degree hinge. Both have Sharp IGZO 2560 x 1440 displays. Other features include a 6 cell battery, dual band Intel 7265 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. These were designed by NEC Computers and are sold in a joint venture between NEC and Lenovo. In NEC markets, it’s also sold under the NEC brand as the VersaPro Type VG (2015).
