Today's PCMag Live is hosted by Dan Costa and Sascha Segan

The New York Auto Show is in town this week and PCMag was on the show floor Thursday for press day. As usual, there are a ton of new cars, but it is also the first time that Apple's CarPlay -- Cupertino's in-car control systems for iOS devices -- is being shown in public. It won't be built into new car models until next year at the earliest, but Volvo showed it running in a 2016 XC90. On today's show, Sascha explains where the real battle for the connected car is taking place.

Meanwhile, cell phone theft doubled last year, going from 1.4 million in 2012 to 3.1 million in 2013, according to Consumer Reports' annual State of the Net Survey. Just this week the CTIA and major wireless carriers, including Verizon and AT&T, agreed to deploy kill-switch technology in 2015. Is that too little, too late? And why does the phrase "kill switch" irritate Sascha so much?

Plus, why is Microsoft keeping kids from using its Siri-like personal digital assistant, Cortana? Turns out this an unfortunate by-product of the Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Dan and Sascha clear up some reader confusion about the difference between Phonebloks and Project Ara. (Hint: they are the same thing.) Finally, we take a closer look at the excellent BenQ XL2720Z Gaming Monitor, our new Editors' Choice.
