The Hero3 White Edition's video quality surprised us; it's sharper and clearer than theHero3+ Silver Edition, which is $100 more expensive. We recommend the GoPro Hero3 White Edition slightly more than the Kodak PixPro SP1. The narrow field of view and somewhat dull (yet accurate) colors may bother some, and if they would bother you, you should get the Kodak. But if sharper footage matters to you, and jagged edges simply won't do when you want to record your adventures, the GoPro will fare better due to its sharper video quality. The Sony POV Action Cam (HDR-AS100V) is a solid choice if $300 is the absolute maximum you're willing to spend, as it's more versatile in terms of fps options and field of view than both cameras, all while showing similar sharpness as the Hero3 White Edition.
