We spoke with senior editor and columnist for The Economist, Ryan Avent about his new book "The Wealth of Humans." His new book is all about how machines will increasingly replace the human labor force in the decades to come.

Economists have been warning of mass "technological unemployment" since the 1930s, however the advent of technologies like machine learning may finally create a true societal shift.

Many experts have been writing about technological unemployment recently, but maintained that the big effects are decades down the line. Avent, however, thinks that the seeds of this economic force can already be seen in recent political discords of 2016.
