I was in the market for a new hard drive and thought I would test both of these drives and see how they perform vs one another. To my surprise the 1TB Blue (2012 model) beat out the 1TB Black (2013) by what I would think of as a significant margin. So really with the black you are just playing for an extra 3 year warranaty...
