How much memory do you need for gaming and video editing? Short answer is for modern titles I would highly recommend 8GB of Ram, for easy to play older titles, 4GB should do just fine, BUT the biggest thing to keep in mind is that not all CPUs are equal, not only in their instructions per cycle but also the way their CPU utilizes memory, there are also a bit more than meets the eye, especially when it comes to video editing.
