After picking The RX 480 up from my local PC store I decided to run it through its paces to see if it really does live up to the hype. Though it is finally great to see AMD coming out on top in a market segment, this market segment being the entry mid-range level graphics card price point, and this thing certainly punches very hard for a $200 card (4GB version.)
The 8GB Version will set you back an extra $40, which at this price does start to creep up a little. I certainly paid more for mine here in Japan....
Personally though I would recommend waiting for the custom AIB solutions that will hit the market (like the Sapphire Nitro, Strix etc.).
The overclocking was also very respectable, and I will say also that the 970 used in this comparison is one of the best you can get, so it does speak lengths for the RX 480, though again I would have liked to have seen that little bit more out of this card.
